New President for PBTM

RAFOC congratulates Laksamana Tan Sri Dato' Sri Mohd Anwar bin Hj Mohd Nor, (Bersara) on his election as the new President of Persatuan Bekas Tentera Malaysia (PBTM) at the 87th Annual General Meeting of the Association on 5 Jan 2013. Tan Sri Anwar was returned unopposed when the incumbent President, Dato' Muhammad bin Hj Abd Ghani, withdrew his nomination.
Tan Sri Anwar, born in Alor Gajah, Melaka on 12 Mar 1951, joined the RMN in 1968 and commissioned as a Sub-Lt in 1971 after completing his cadet training in BRNC Dartmouth, United Kingdom. On 13 Augt 2003 he became the Chief of Navy. On 29 Apr 2005 he was appointed as Chief of Defence Force, the first non-Army officer to hold such appointment. On his retirement on 1 Feb 2007, Tan Sri Anwar was appointed as Chairman of Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera (LTAT) till this day. RAFOC looks forward to his leadership in moving PBTM to new heights.
In addition to Tan Sri Anwar, the following were also elected to office for a three-year term:
Deputy Chairman - Hj Sukar bin Jantan, (Bersara)
Deputy President - Kapt Sharuddin bin Hj Omar, (Bersara)
Vice Presidents (3) - Mej Sazali bin Hj Ismail, (Bersara)
- Brig Jen Dato' Muslim bin Yusof, (Bersara)
- Lt Kdr Jayah bin Hj Said, (Bersara)
In congratulating them, RAFOC looks forward to see further development in the activities of PBTM in looking after the welfare and the well being of its members in particular, and the Armed Forces veterans' community in general.
RAFOC also put on record our recognition and appreciation to Dato' Muhammad bin Hj Abd Ghani, for his leadership and contribution in the growth of PBTM and for his humbleness in withdrawing his nomination to continue as PBTM President. Dato' Muhammad was President of PBTM for 15 years, since 1998.
